Is your Citrix/RDS sessions constantly opens sneaky Java Update popup box? I know you tried log on as Administrator and disable the Java updates (Control Panal/Java settings). It didn’t help, isn’t? Well it supposed to disable the updates permanently. But it doesn’t.
What’s up with million update every month, Oracle??? I wish developer don’t develop in Java anymore. This is becoming annoying.
There is a registry settings that comes to help This actually works.
- Run RegEdit.exe
- Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy\
- Double click the key EnableJavaUpdate and change the value to 0.
Optional:
4. Delete this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SunJavaUpdateSche
5. Reboot the server.
This above registry hack is for Windows Server 2008 R2 servers. If you got older or 32 bit OSes, replace the registry location with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy\.
Enjoy the peacefulness.
