How much did you hate to see the start screen every time you Remote Desktop to Windows Server 2012 machine? (And no Start button either in task bar).
In Windows Server 2012 R2 (and Windows 8.1), you CAN set to go to straight to Desktop after you logon. To do this you have to modify the properties of the task bar. Follow the steps below.
1. Right click on the task bar and select Properties.
2. Select Navigation tab in Taskbar and Navigation Properties window. Check the box for Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in.
That’s all. Log off and try Remote Desktop to this server again. Remember this settings is only for your user profile. Other users will have to do the same setting individually.
